Historical milestones, founding origins, and technological breakthroughs.
Case IH represents the fusion of two titans of American agricultural history: the J.I. Case Threshing Machine Company (established in 1842 in Racine, Wisconsin) and Cyrus McCormick’s International Harvester Company (founded in 1831). In 1985, Tenneco acquired International Harvester’s agricultural machinery assets and combined them with Case, creating Case IH and uniting IH’s legendary diesel engineering and Axial-Flow harvesting technology with Case’s structural strength.
In 1987, Case IH launched the revolutionary Magnum 7100 Series—the first tractor developed entirely under the merged banner—which established new standards for full PowerShift transmissions, operator visibility, and heavy row-crop reliability. In 1996, Case IH changed heavy primary tillage forever with the introduction of the Steiger Quadtrac: four independently pivoting positive-drive rubber tracks that virtually eliminated soil compaction while efficiently transmitting over 600 engine horsepower.
Four separate rubber track modules pivoting 26 degrees to maintain ground contact on uneven terrain.
Clutchless gear shifting across all 18 or 19 forward ratios under maximum drawbar pull.
Gentle single-rotor crop separation reducing grain damage and increasing throughput.
Cloud-connected fleet management delivering 2-way agronomic file transfer and remote display viewing.

Notable models in our Case IH catalog include the Magnum 335, representing key milestones in Case IH's agricultural engineering history.
All About Tractors currently tracks 455 verified specification sheets and laboratory test reports for Case IH tractors.
Official test reports from the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory and the DLG Test Center are linked directly on each individual Case IH tractor profile.
Case IH tractors in our database range from compact utility models up to high-horsepower row-crop machines delivering up to 620 hp.
Case IH equips its tractor lineups with certified diesel engines engineered for high torque rise, fuel economy, and compliance with emissions standards.
Depending on the series and manufacturing year, Case IH models feature synchronized mechanical gearboxes, multi-speed PowerShift units, or continuous variable transmissions (CVT).
The serial number plate is typically stamped on the transmission housing, front frame casting, or right-hand engine block. Match the sequential number against our Case IH yearly serial number records.
Case IH utility models feature Category 1, 2, or 3 three-point linkages with position control and draft sensing for heavy agricultural implements.
Certified OECD dynamometer testing measures Case IH fuel consumption under varying engine loads, providing exact gallons/hour and g/kWh consumption metrics.
Each Case IH specification page links to verified OEM parts lookups, aftermarket suppliers, and operator/workshop repair manuals.
Check engine cold-starting compression, hydraulic remote pressure, 3-point rockshaft seals, transmission shift smoothness under load, and front axle kingpin play.
